Skype for Business does not connect with outlook

Skype for business will make a connection with outlook using the MAPI link.

Consequences of a non-functioning MAPI link are:

  1. Contacts are not displayed in the search list.

  2. Incoming call pop-ups do not display the names of incoming calls.



Diagnose

To check the status of the MAPI link, hold down CTRL and right-click on the Skype for Business taskbar icon.

Then look in the list for MAPI status.

There are a number of different status:

Everything is fine and your MAPI link works.

MAPI Unavailable

The link with Outlook has not been made.

Solution

Important points for establishing this link are as follows;

  • User account in Skype for Business and outlook must match. The SMTP and SIP address must be the same.

  • Outlook must be started.

  • The SMTP address must be your default address in Outlook.
