Step 3: Set up Forest DNS Stub

The Voice of O365 uses vane and bidirectional forest trust between your Active Directory and the environment of the VO365. Before this trust can be created, both environments must be able to find each other. For this lookup of domain names a Stub forward lookup zone has to be created in both the environment of VO365 and yours.

  1. Open the DNS management console and right-click on Forward Lookup Zone to start the wizard.

  2. Click next to start the wizard and select Stub zone . Save the zone in Active Directory by ticking the box below.

  3. Convert replication to all DNS servers in the domain.

  4. Enter the FQDN of the VO365 environment (softapp-distribution.com)

  5. Enter the IP addresses of the DNS servers of the VO365 environment
    - 192.168.184.3

ATTENTION: do not connect with 192.168.184.1 or 192.168.184.2. These are main DNS servers that contain more information than necessary to set up the trust only. If you connect to the DNS servers you will experience problems logging in to the Skype for Business clients.

  6. End the wzard by clicking on the finish during the last window. The name servers of VO365 should now be available in the stub of softapp-distribution.com. You can see this by clicking on softapp-distribution.com under the 'Forward Lookup Zones'. This should look like this.
