Important: Effects on current environment

Please be aware of the effect on the current environment. During the migration of moving from an online platform to a hosted on-premise platform some changes occur.

Rule of thumb

Data hosted on Skype for Business online will not be migrated to The Voice of O365. Data stored in Exchange online stays on it's location and is available through EWS/MAPI with The Voice of O365.

Effects on current data

Data not migrated:

  • Skype Meetings

    • If you are logged into your The Voice of O365 account, Skype meetings will need to be updated by resending the meetings. You can use the tools below to resend the meetings.

      • 32 Bit meeting migration tool - click here

      • 64 Bit meeting migration tool - click here

  • Skype contacts and groups

    • Skype contacts and groups will have to be added manually. SoftApp distribution offers you the contact migrator with which you can import and export the contacts on the desktop.

  • Call forwarding settings

  • Delegates and team call groups

  • Skype for Business photo (unless uploaded to office 365)

  • Password (does migrate if using SSO with backend AD)

  • Voicemail greetings / pin (Stays the same if keeps using O365).

  • Other custom settings

Explanation

The current Skype for business (Office 365) online environment goes out of business *

* only if the same domain name is used in office 365 and The Voice of O365

When moving to the The Voice of O365, changes will be made to the DNS routing so that the clients connect to the environment of The Voice of O365. The existing configuration will NOT be included here. Users can be re-imported into The Voice of O365. This has the following consequences:

  • Users receive a new password.

  • Contact lists are re-formatted.

The environment of The Voice of O365 is separate from Office 365 and only user names and passwords are synchronized. Other data must be re-created.

Password will be synchronized from your AD (with us or in your area) and are one-way.

When transferring to The Voice of O365, users will have to be in an Active Directory. These users can be synchronized to Office 365, however these users will only be editable from the AD and no longer in the Office 365 portal. Azure AD currently supports only one-way synchronization.Customers with an AD of SoftApp distribution can change their details on the next page ( https://profile.thevoiceofo365.com). In Office 365 you can still create cloud users, but they will not be visible to The Voice of O365.

  • Changes in users can only be made locally.
